Scottish Press Association photographer, Andrew Milligan, was named News Photographer of the Year at the 29th Scottish Press Awards last week.
This image of schoolgirl Vicky Hamilton's father being restrained as Peter Tobin left court after being charged with her murder impressed the judges as much as it did when he won the First ScotRail Press Awards in March this year (reported PAN 31/03/08). Magazines and War

Magazines and War, 1936-39,” was held from January - April 2007 at Madrid’s Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia.
This website was created to allow visitors to virtualy browse selected magazines.

The mass medium du jour in Spain – and elsewhere throughout the world – during the 1930s, was the illustrated magazine. Among those contributing to the more than 1,500 magazines produced during this period were artists, writers, activists, and trade union and government propagandists from all sides – loyalists, insurgents, Republicans, "nationalists," anarchists and Communists. Publications ranged in nature from limited-edition, hand-made volumes produced on the front lines to slickly designed magazines featuring striking graphics, mass-produced in Barcelona, Madrid and other urban centers.

The relatively new UK based image library www.picturenation.co.uk has its own Child Picture Policy designed to reassure, and to encourage its growing community of amateur, hobby and professional photographers to send in their photos of their children and their friends’ children. Bamber Gascoigne and Topfoto help you move through Time

topfotobamba.jpg

The TimeSearch engine devised by author and academic Bamber Gascoigne was launched yesterday on TopFoto.co.uk.
In a conventional picture library search engine you need to enter word sequences. With TopFoto TimeSearch you only need to say what date, areas or themes interest you. The results will give picture researchers a wealth of ideas, images and material. You get hotlinks to TopFoto images on the right. In the centre is Bamber Gascoigne’s TimeLine for TopFoto - with focussed, accurate information. On the left you get hotlinks to expanded detail from Answers.com.

Starting with the Big Bang, TopFoto offers a dedicated TimeSearch facility to researchers with a click-through from www.topfoto.co.uk. TopFoto has 2 million images online.
