Adams, who insists he is still very much at the helm, said today, 'We are very honoured to have John, Danny and Simon officially join the business and I would like to point out that there is absolutely no truth in the rumour that we have been bought out. Photographers like Anderson, a thirty-eight-year-old well known for his conflict photography, wonder about the lack of “vetting” of the millions of images that are supposed to be carrying the truth to readers....

Mail Online - On Target

Net gains for Mail Online reports Martin Bream of Currybet.net on Pressgazette.co.uk

dailymail.png

(UK) With the latest ABCe figures, Mail Online has stormed into first place as the most popular UK newspaper site. Editorial director Martin Clarke ascribes this to investment in content, but the site’s redesign has also obviously gone down well.

.....The new homepage is more visual than the previous design, with a large space “above the fold” devoted to the day in pictures. Clarke cites investment in news and sport as key to Mail Online’s future, but I suspect that a lot of the increased usage of the site is down to the Mail’s eye-grabbing TV and showbiz coverage................

JASONFRIENDPRINTS.jpg

Freelance travel photographer and writer, Jason Friend, has launched an online print store through Media Storehouse.

Jason said.... "The website service provider for my print collection is the Media Storehouse, who also handle all elements of the actual print fulfilment. You only have to look at the other well known collections that they handle (National Trust, English Heritage, Newcastle United FC!) to be assured that the print quality will be second to none. And the price?
As I ranted earlier, I have always wanted to keep the cost of my prints low and this is exactly what I have done. Award winning photography from a fiver? Framed prints £60? Stunning canvas prints for under £200? I have waited a long time to say this but...

'Photo Illustration' Discussed At Black Star

Most photojournalists are not fans of the "photo illustration" -- the only category of newsroom artwork that permits substantial photo manipulation.
Many see it as an option of last resort. But does it have to be this way? Or, at a time when photojournalists are increasingly under fire for manipulating images with Photoshop, should the profession actually embrace the photo illustration as a means of deterring deception?

Black Star Rising contributors debated this issue in a pair of recent posts.
